The personality in mention is Dr. Shri. Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar whose contributions are appreciated and tribute is paid to him on this very auspicious day of his birthday.
Because of its great and outstanding contribution for the betterment of certain social classes he is still remembered by his beloved people. In fact, 14 th April is celebrated every year to commemorate his memory. Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated all different parts of Maharashtra and this year too it was celebrated in the college campus with an attendance of 40 students including 25 were males and 15 were females.
The anchor of the programme was from F.Y. BMS whose speech and went like:
I welcome you all to the birth ceremony of today and it gives me immense pleasure to stand here today in front of you all and address this event. As you all know that we have come together on the eve of Ambedkar’s Jayanti to pay homage to Shri Ambedkar Ji.
On his birth anniversary we, at NDC made all arrangements with the help of students to pay our respect to the person of his stature. Arrangements to offer garlands and flowers by all were made in college premises. The whole programme was conducted in the presence
of I/C Principal Dr. Yashwant Kadam, Junior College Principal Dr. Gandhali Abhyankar,Vice Proncipal Dr. Kiran Gajjar, teaching and non teaching Staff Members.
An atmosphere of bonding between all was created while the audience witnessed very impactful speech delivered by I/C Principal Dr. Yashwant kadam who very inspiringly mentioned and created a very powerful
picture of Shri Ambedkar ji’s works through his words that gave the students & also others an insight into the life of Shri. Ambedkar. This was followed by another very knowledgeable speech by Dr.Gandhali Abhyankar and 10 students delivered speech and poem.
Ambedkar Jayanti which is observed on 14 th April is indeed an auspicious day for all the Indians as on this day Shri Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born. He actively worked for Dalits as well as the marginalized section of our society and fought for their rights. He was a political leader, jurist, anthropologist, teacher, economist, and the list simply goes on. Since this day
holds great importance in the Indian history, it is celebrated nationwide by the Indian people to pay him homage. And chances are such that you may also
become a part of such ceremony.
